Getting Ready

I’ve been accepted to give a talk at TestBash Netherlands and I’m really excited! TeshBash has a really excellent reputation in the Testing Community. While I’ve previously attended developer conferences (Hey BarCamp), this will be my first Testing Conference.

I’ve made a pledge to work on my public speaking and meet new people. I’m pretty anxious due to imposter syndrome, so I’m going to blog about my preparation and planning (without hopefully spoiling the talk).

In my workplace, I’ve given both training and presentations. However I feel like I can get a lot better at doing these. So its a good time to practice like crazy. I would feel really bad about not giving a good presentation.

In September I’m going to try out Toastmasters. I’ve heard good things about it, and I’ve talked a friend into going with me. I’m also going to write about whatever I find interesting that week thats seems relevent in order to improve my writing.

The value of a testing conference like TestBash usually comes from the people you meet, as the information you receive ages. However I am aiming to give everyone who attends the talk a couple of take aways they can use to give immediate value to their company. While the slides will include the links to further material to help with individual practice to build expertise.
